How do I apply?
You can apply using our application found at capitalforcounsel.org/apply
What are the qualifications I need in order to apply?
1) You need to be in the age range of 16-29.
2) Prove financial need through your tax return on the application.
3) Be a resident of one of the following counties: Dallas, Ellis, Johnson,
Rockwall, Kaufman, Tarrant, Denton and Collin.
How many sessions can Capital for Counsel fund for me?
We fund a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 sessions of counseling with a counselor who charges no more than $200 per session.
Is there a time limit for how long I can take to complete my sessions?
Yes, we require that you attend your therapy sessions at least once a month. So, if you have applied for ten sessions you must complete them within ten months.
Can I apply for a grant if I am a minor?
The minimum age an individual can be accepted for a grant is sixteen years old. If you are a minor, your parent or legal guardian will be required to handle the signing of the grant agreement and notifying Capital for Counsel of the date of each of your therapy sessions.
How do I receive the funds to pay for my sessions?
Through an electronic transfer. The funds will be paid in increments, and you will receive the funds no earlier than 2 days prior to each therapy session.
If I am accepted, can I use the funds for anything other than my therapy sessions?
No! To do so would be a crime and if any portion of the funds are used for anything other than what is specifically stated in the grant agreement, then we have the right to take legal action.
How will I know if my application has been accepted or not?
We will notify you via email no later than one week after you have submitted your application.
Do I have to use one of the therapists listed on the Capital for Counsel website?
No. You can use any therapist located in the list of counties above that charges a maximum of $200 or lower.
How do I need to prove that the therapy session takes place?
We require that you send us a copy of each individual invoice after your session at
spencer@capitalforcounsel.org. If we do not receive an invoice for a session, we will not fund the following sessions.

Yes, however we do prioritize applicants who currently do not have insurance.
